Site Changes & Fixes

You may have noticed that surfing EggXpert is no longer the rocky road it once was. A big reason for the easier navigation is the significant reduction in “Oops” error messages. Due to inherent coding errors, the site had previously averaged over 300 error messages per day. However, thanks to the hard work of our programmers, the number is currently as low as 6-8 on any given day.

One of the main causes of the error message was the sidebar in the Forums area. These real-time stats and updates are now fully functional, accurate and error-free.

For anyone unfamiliar with the “Oops” error, here are some previous threads on the subject:

Please inform us of any other site issues using the Bug Reporting forum.

My Discussions

Until recently, any thread you posted in or replied to was permanently kept in your My Discussions list, which constantly updates on the Forums sidebar so that you can keep up with new responses. You now have the option to remove topics from the My Discussions list, making it much easier and simpler to follow only the threads you want.

To remove topics from My Discussions:

  1. Click My Discussions (right side of the Forums page).
  2. Check the threads you wish to remove.
  3. Scroll to the bottom, and click “Remove from my discussions.”

Forum Structure

Improvements have also been made to the forum structure.

The forums and subforums have been shuffled around, and their rearrangement is an ongoing effort. It’s all a tiny part of a larger puzzle which is still in the works. Currently, we are making sure that the main forum tree matches the product categories on Newegg.com so that users switching over for advice and help can easily identify the different sections.

No forums have been deleted – only moved or renamed. A few new forums, like Newegg Suggestions and Home & Office, have been added. To provide feedback on the recent forum adjustments, please feel free to contribute in the following thread:

Below is an updated look at the EggXpert forums and subforums.

NOTE: A forum not listed is Controversial Discussions (Selectee) – users must have at least 30 posts and send a Private Message to sj1dog for access.

I took the plunge and downloaded Windows Vista SP1 today. I didn\'t use BitTorrent or any other illegal means. I downloaded it from the Microsoft servers by tweaking the registry on my machine. (the same method we used to get the Beta version from MS).

If you think you might like computer designing worlds and scenes in a video game you should consider being a 2- dimensional artist. They create all the structures, textures and backgrounds in game worlds. Photoshop is the de- facto program for this job.
