Changes to Come

In the near future, users asking for technical advice and troubleshooting support on the EggXpert forums will find a “System Specs” tab in their Post (and Reply) window. Whenever a user posts within a support forum, he or she will have the option of listing their system hardware and specs for easier diagnosis.

The specs are included in the post for other users to see, which is crucial when giving accurate information and advice. Although everyone is free to continue listing their hardware in the Signature field, the new system will allow for uniform listings that are easy to read and easy to find.

This feature will improve the speed, quality and efficiency of finding answers and help on the forum. The more details given, the more information others have to work with, making it easier and much faster to get the right answer or give the best recommendation.

When implemented, there should also be a significant drop in compatibility concerns and follow-up replies asking for system details. The end result is fast, painless and accurate aid.

Although the concept is still a work-in-progress, feel free to drop us a line and give us your input on how we can make this idea a shining example for the future. Here is the current thread that sparked this idea – chime in and help it grow:

Egg Chat

For the IRC fans out there, EggXpert is also working on a Cute Chat server, which will give users a live chatroom with fully integrated forum profiles. There will be individual chatrooms for various sections of the main message board where you can find help or just hang out.

The chatrooms will be an informal and speedy way to exchange info and a haven for those who just want to relax and chat. However, to maintain a balance in activity between the forums and the chatrooms, users will be encouraged to post insightful issues, discussions and solutions in the actual forum area for others to read.

The forums are an undisputed learning center, while the chatroom will provide real-time communication and feedback. However, we must make sure that help given and received is posted in the forums so they can be archived, searched and read for many years to come.

With the Cute Chat feature, the administrators of EggXpert also plan on conducting regular town hall meetings so that community members can voice their thoughts and feelings.

Please see the below thread to continue the brainstorming and join our unofficial EggXpert IRC channel, courtesy of Kunzy:

Stay tuned for more details, updates and previews. If you have something on your mind, feel free to give us any Suggestions & Feedback.

what will be the protocol for the control of bots? and other distracting factors that could seriously affect the true chatroom experience.  Other than that I believe that this will revolutionize newegg. A suggestion that I have found is that you may want to present a security window that a real person has to insert text and a number before entering the chat room. This will do some serious bot control.
