Kutaragi Retires
Ken Kutaragi, the Chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment, has surpirisingly announced his retirement. Kutaragi made Sony a prominent contender in the videogame industry by introducing the original Playstation, the Playstation 2, the Playstation Portable, and the recent Playstation 3. His success is undeniable, and his reputation among gamers and developers alike was in good health, so why then did he dicide to retire? Kutaragi's announcement told reporters that he wanted to pass the torch to the new generation, but was that truly the reasoning behind this shocking announcment?
Kutaragi's relationship with Sony CEO Howard Stringer was strained to say the least, the two of them just did not see eye-to-eye, and I am wondering if this was the actual reasoning for the surprise retirement. A good thing is that Kaz Hirai is taking over, a more trust-worthy, down-to-earth person who may bring the PS3 out of the toilet.
